Lea Michele and Darren Criss star in the Broadway revival of Glee.
The recent reunion of Lea Michele and Darren Criss is sure to make fans happy.
The former castmates of Fox’s hit musical comedy Glee reunited after one of Michele’s Broadway performances in the revival of Funny Girl.
On Thursday, the actress shared a photo of the sweet moment on Instagram, commenting on the pair (who were joined by Criss’ wife) as they smiled happily backstage together.
“The number of times this guy has heard me sing ‘Don’t Rain on My Parade,'” Michele captioned her Instagram post. “@darrencriss and @miavoncriss, I adore you.”
Michele is correct. Michele performed a medley of Funny Girl hits over the course of the show’s six seasons, including “Don’t Rain on My Parade,” “People,” and “My Man,” and her character, Rachel Berry, even went on to star in a Broadway adaptation of Funny Girl, just like she did.
After his character, Blaine Anderson, appeared as the leader of the rival vocal group, the Dalton Academy Warblers, in season 2, Criss and Michele played opposite each other for four of the show’s six seasons. Blaine transferred to William McKinley High School after singing and dancing his way through the school year and officially joined the glee club in season 3.
While Rachel was swept into the magical role of Fanny Brice (previously played by Barbra Streisand) right out of high school, Michele said the opportunity came at the right time in her life.
“I’m 36 now, and the story of Funny Girl spans many years, and you see her love and loss, failures and successes, and becoming a mom and a wife,” she recently told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show. “I feel like right now, where I am, everything is just right. Timing is everything, and I’m grateful for that.”
